Vegan +1 Project: The +2 and +3

Posted by on December 5, 2012

I’ve mentioned how my +1 is a huge animal lover. He must donate to at least 10 different animal charities, as well as donating blankets to an animal shelter monthly. I’m so proud. :) And now, I must share the cuteness that weakens me. Ladies and gentlemen, I’d like to present my +1′s “kids”…Bella and Vegas…

Bella Bear

Vegas "Veggy"

See what I mean!?! Look at those eyes! How could anyone resist such cuteness!?!

Although they are not mine, I’m still curious as to what they’re eating and wouldn’t mind providing healthy treats for them. They do keep me company when my +1 is working or Facebooking after all.  Maybe they can get away with being non vegan (although I have other opinions), but there is a lot of junk dog food on those supermarket shelves. Even stuff the vets prescribe can be bad for our”best friends”!

But luckily there are more options out there because some amazing animal loving responsible food entrepreneurs have stepped up to the small business plate.

Unfortunately my first attempt did not go so well.

I offered up these

and yeah…not so much. Bella refused which sometimes her nose rides high anyway, but when Veggy refuses, we know we have a problem!

But I can’t lie, I took a sniff and can understand why they gave them the paw. Pretty nasty!

This brand was something I just stumbled upon without much research at the store, so I’m not feeling defeated and will keep trying because they are ALL worth it and I know they will eventually like something. :)

B.Well,

Lyndsay

Agreed! There is so much CRAP “FOOD” out there for dogs..it’s upsetting because they don’t have a say in what they put in their bodies, they’re totally dependant on us. Sorry the pups didn’t like the treats, there is one at whole foods that my dog likes (cant remember the name of it)..”Earth” something rather. All natural chicken/beef/pork (pick your animal), non gmo, no soy, etc.

BTW- I couldn’t even put on my eyeliner or fix my hair properly since my arms were so tired..Good job :)
